Audit trail

Describes Fynease as of September 2026

Everything Fynease produces can be traced to its source and to the person who approved it. This page describes what is recorded.

An append-only record

Journals in Fynease cannot be edited or deleted; this is enforced in the database, not only in the screens. A mistake is corrected with a reversal, so the original, the reversal and the correction all stay in the record.

What each entry records

Sign-off

Each balance sheet account moves through Prepared, Reviewed and Signed off, each stamped with the person and the time. Review and sign-off are limited to the roles you allow. Closing a period records who closed it.

When the bookkeeper already booked it

If an entry was already booked in QuickBooks Online outside Fynease, marking it as such records who said so, when and why. It is kept apart from Fynease's own postings, so it is never mistaken for one.

Lead sheets and exports

Lead sheets show each balance sheet account, the entries behind its balance, where each came from and who approved it, with the tie to its schedule or sub-ledger. They export to Excel with a cover sheet naming the preparer, the company, the period and the time of export.

For what an auditor typically asks for, see Audit-ready workpapers from QuickBooks Online.
