Allocations spread a cost from one account to others, across classes or across companies, by a rule you set once.
Headcount, revenue share and custom statistics are turned into percentages that add to 100% when the rule runs. If the basis is zero, the fixed percentages are used.
Either a set amount, or the period's activity in the source account, narrowed by any combination of dimensions such as class, customer, supplier or employee. Rules run in order, so one rule's result can feed the next, and a target can be spread across every value of a dimension, in proportion to revenue or tagged activity. Every split adds up exactly.
Preview the month, then confirm and post. Allocation entries are journals that can be sent to QuickBooks Online, and a rollback reverses them.
