Segment reporting
Describes Fynease as of September 2026
The income statement in Analysis can be laid out in columns with Columns by, and filtered by any dimension.
Columns by
- Reporting segments: your own segments, defined as rules over class, customer and supplier. Anything that matches no rule falls into Other.
- Dimensions: class, customer, product and supplier, and optionally department or location, project and employee. Sub-classes can be rolled up.
- Time: the trailing twelve months, four quarters, three fiscal years, or month, quarter, year to date and trailing twelve months side by side.
- On a consolidated view, also by company and by group segment.
Totals that tie
Every breakdown has an Untagged column and a Total column, and the columns plus Untagged equal the total; Fynease checks it and says if they do not. Beyond the largest columns, the rest fold into Other, which says how many it holds. The side-by-side windows have no total, because they overlap.
Comparisons
- Prior year and prior period work on every layout.
- Budget works by class when the QuickBooks budget is split by class, and is withheld for other dimensions, because the budget does not carry them.
- Forecast works on the time layouts.
Limits
- Segments come from the ledger lines, so price, volume and mix, which uses item lines, is not available under a segment.
- By company on a consolidated view, the columns are the members before intercompany eliminations.
